Contemplation... And so blessed...

Have you ever truly wanted to say something to someone, but know that what you say will inevitably be taken the wrong way? Or the person will take offense when you are just saying something out of love for that person?

Just pondering that today....

Lately I have been spending evenings in our back yard, with our neighbors, and it makes for such a great time. I used to get so anxious about spending time at home with the kids. Worrying that I am not being productive enough, or working enough with teaching them stuff they should be taught. We have a few kids that live in our building now, and it is such an excitement to me to have kids come knock on our door to ask if Wyatt can play. We are not comfortable with it yet, to let him be outside with them by himself, although that comfort is getting a bit better because the one boy is about 12. Anyhow, it is such a relief to have the evening with friends who live in the same place, and somewhat share the same type of sense of humor and wanting to have fun. The neighbors on our floor to the right actually bought a kiddie pool at the beginning of summer, which has gotten such good use since they did. We lately have taken turns filling it up and getting it ready. It is so fun to just hang around with other adults (some of which have small children also) and have adult time while the kids play. Today I started doing flashcards with Wyatt. Making a good effort now also to spend time playing quietly along with the kids. I have discovered that I actually really appreciate when the music/tv is off for an hour or so so we can just play and chat and get to know each other more each day. I am really going to miss too, when it gets cold, and we can't congregate in our comfortable back yard anymore. Becky, the neighbor that lives directly below us, has been getting to know us overtime for the 5 years that she has lived here. Lately, we have been spending more and more time together and have discovered that there are quite a few things that we have in common. She actually took me to Mayfair with her last weekend so I could have a break for a bit after the kids and Ben had just been sick. We ended up taking quite a long time, compared to what we had initially though we were going to, and it was such a blast! We found this little store w/ in Macy's called Lush where we both bought some natural soaps. It was so cool. We also ventured into Bath and Body Works and had a Starbucks. So much fun. Anyhow, she has blessed us with supper the last two nights. She is single and doesn't want to waste so she invited us to eat taco's with her tonight, and last night had enough brats and hamburgers to share, Oh and the yummiest grilled corn on the cob. It isn't that we didn't have food, she just insisted, and blessed my socks off. So, the summer has been really great so far, because I can say that I have never really enjoyed just spending time being around our apartment building. It is getting to be the kind of atmosphere where everyone just gets home from their day jobs and then spends the evening together. Super cool.
